Daintree Valley Haven is a pleasant 100 km (60 mile) drive north of Cairns airport along the Great Barrier Reef Drive, one of Australia's most scenic coastal highways

There is very little public transport so it is essential to have your own vehicle to reach the property.   Map of the Daintree with place names

We are very easy to find - when you arrive in tiny Daintree Village simply follow the blue Daintree Valley Haven signs for 8km (5 miles) along winding Stewart Creek Road through rainforest, past lush rolling cattle pastures below a deep green backdrop of forested hillsides.  Please do not rely on GPS as it tends to be quite inaccurate in our area!!!

Stewart Creek Road, from Daintree Village, is unsealed but is well-maintained and suitable for normal cars.  Some car rental companies have restrictions on unsealed roads - among those which don't have restrictions are Avis and Budget, which we recommend.

Approximate driving times from Daintree Valley Haven to places of interest are:

  • Daintree Village - 10-15 mins

  • Daintree River Ferry - 20-25 mins

  • Cape Tribulation - approx 60-90 mins

  • Mossman and Mossman Gorge - 40-50 mins
  • Port Douglas - 60 mins

  • Cairns Airport - 90 mins

Local Update - 28 February to 4 March 2018

This is only if you wish to travel across the Daintree River in your hire car - staying south of the river (where we are) you will not be affected.

If you are planning to visit the Daintree region north of the River towards Cape Tribulation between 28 February and 4 March 2018 please note that the Daintree Ferry will be out of service for a safety maintenance inspection so you will not be able to take your car across the Daintree River for those five days.  There will be free shuttle buses south of the River from Mossman, a free passenger-only ferry then more free shuttle buses as far as Cow Bay only.
