You may have heard "doom and gloom" reports in the media about coral bleaching and cyclone damage to our beautiful Great Barrier Reef. Yes, there has been some severe bleaching following two incredibly hot summers and, last year, a very warm winter. Shallower reefs in particular have been affected by high water temps and the more southerly regions have been affected by Cyclone Debbie. But there are still huge areas which have suffered no, or more minimal, damage. Here is a very recent video by one of our major reef tour operators, Quicksilver in Port Douglas. https://www.facebook.com/tropicalnorthqueensland/videos/1326684417424762/
The reef will repair itself in time - weather events and cyclones have been happening since time began!
